Somerset Levels Flood Appeal

Limited Edition copy in aid of Somerset Levels Flood Appeal  available here

Although I now live in Wiltshire, I am a Somerset man born and bred, which is why I found the recent devastating flooding on the Somerset Levels particularly heart-wrenching.

Many have helped to provide some form of emergency relief for the people suffering in that area, but those most effected will need support for many months, in some cases years, to help them get back on their feet

This applies particularly to the farmers who have discovered that, once the water finally drains away after covering their land for many months, the previously fertile land resembles more of a peat bog.

Possibly the most devastating damage is in the village of Moorland, where all 130 dwellings and the surrounding farms had to be evacuated.  Work on restoring these homes could not commence until the beginning of April.

The concern now is that, with the better weather arriving and the media finding different axes to grind, support may dwindle away.  So The Provincial Grand Lodge of Somerset launched an appeal fund to provide support into the future for the victims and, in just a few weeks, that fund has risen to £125,000.

To help increase that even further, a numbered limited edition of The Mantis Pact has been produced for sale from April 2014, all profits from which will go to the Somerset Masonic Recovery Fund.  Every copy of the Limited Edition sold will add a minimum of £7.50 to that fund.  You can obtain your copy by mail order by clicking on the link below; if you wish to add a further £2.50 donation, I will personally sign your copy for you.

Copies can also be purchased at the Masonic Museum in Bath, and we hope to make them available at other locations, details of which will be added here as they become available.  Thank you for your time.
